The Why:
Crown, Kin, and Legacy
Crown & Kin began with my family.
Two of my brothers whom are now with the Ancestors, Lawrence and Terry, added to the shape of how I see care, legacy, and what it means to be held through hard seasons. To honor them and other kin that have gone on as well, the name Crown & Kin came to me.
Crown because all of my brothers (there are 5+ 1), my Daddy, Uncles, nephews and cousins —and all men—were and are kingly to me and they deserve to be held to that esteem all the time. And the same for the women in my family; Queens in every essence of the word. That’s how I was raised. It's what I know.
Kin because they are my family, and this house is for everyone like them, like me,
like us.
In our main logo, the K in Kin carries Lawrence, and the I holds Terrance. Crown & Kin is a quiet tribute to them and an invitation for our wider kin, your kin, my kin, all to be cared for with the same intention.

A Note from Dr.Yolanda Hughes
I am Yolanda, founder of Crown & Kin, a sanctuary created to honor the unique biological and cultural needs of melanated bodies. Drawing from my Ph.D. in Health Sciences and my own passage through life’s complex transitions, I built this house to bridge rigorous clinical insight with ancestral healing traditions. My work lives where science and soul meet, offering a luxe, intentional path to wellness so every member of our kin feels seen, held, and regally cared for because they deserve it. You deserve to be treated like royalty.
